Row Zero will be integrated into Genie, Databricks' AI coworker, across web, desktop and mobile, and made available to Databricks customers on all major clouds while keeping support for non-Databricks data sources. Rowzero.com still offers free and paid plans. Row Zero was founded in 2021 by former AWS engineers Breck Fresen and Nick End.

Notion Mail, the Gmail-based AI email client Notion launched in April 2025, was shut down across web, desktop and iOS on September 22, 2026. Notion announced the wind-down on June 25, 2026, saying more than half of Notion Mail users were managing email through Notion agents without opening the inbox. Emails stayed in users' Gmail accounts; drafts, scheduled emails, snippets and auto-label instructions had to be exported manually. Notion's email-capable agents continue.

Hugging Face became the public square of open machine learning — roughly 3 million models, 1 million applications and 500,000 datasets used by some 18 million developers, plus the Transformers library much of the field builds on. On September 3, 2026, Nvidia confirmed a $12.93 billion agreement to acquire it: the largest company Nvidia has ever bought and nearly double its $6.9 billion Mellanox purchase. Co-founder Clement Delangue and the founding team are staying, the brand and leadership continue, and Nvidia has committed to keeping the platform open. Regulatory clearance is still pending.

Founded in 2025 by IIT Bombay alumni Georgi Boby and Dhruv Jaglan, it raised $1 million from Peak XV at a $10 million valuation and passed 10,000 users within months. Adobe acquired the six-person team and licensed the IP on 2 September 2026. The product shuts down.

More than 500,000 carriers used the platform and the app passed 500,000 downloads at a 4.9 rating. On 1 September 2026 the company emailed customers to say it had been acquired, and switched the app off that Friday, 4 September, three days later. The buyer was never named.

OpenRouter turned a fragmented model landscape into a single endpoint — one OpenAI-compatible API routing across hundreds of models from more than 80 providers, with transparent per-token pricing, automatic fallbacks, and no lock-in to any single lab. That neutrality made it the default gateway for developers who refused to bet their stack on one provider. On August 19, 2026, Stripe announced an agreement to acquire OpenRouter, reportedly for around $7.5 billion, to fold token routing and cost optimization into its payments platform. The gateway keeps running.

OpenAI shut down ChatGPT Atlas on August 9, 2026, 292 days after launching it on October 21, 2025. The Chromium-based browser never left macOS — the promised Windows, iOS and Android builds never shipped, not even as public betas — and it made no measurable dent in Chrome's roughly 68% share. OpenAI folded the work into a ChatGPT Chrome extension and an upgraded browser mode in the ChatGPT desktop app rather than keep a standalone browser alive.

NextSlide turned prompts, notes and documents into polished editable decks, aimed at the people who had the ideas but not the design vocabulary. It lasted about a year. OpenAI acquired it to expand ChatGPT’s slide creation, with founder Ahmed Beshry — previously a co-founder of Caper AI, sold to Instacart in 2021 — joining in March 2026 and announcing the deal that August. Terms were never disclosed. The standalone product is gone and nextslide.ai now serves only a farewell note.

Reforged Labs built AI-generated video ad creative for mobile game studios and won real customers — Supercell, King, Ubisoft, Playtika, Scopely — on $3.9M of seed funding with 17 staff across Vietnam and the US. It wound down in July 2026 after three years. Co-founder and CEO Robert Huynh's reasoning was unusually direct: foundation models had improved enough that studios could build the same creative tooling in-house, and the gap the company sold into was closing. He chose a clean shutdown over a slow decline.

Tabnine, one of the earliest AI code assistants, was acquired by software-testing company Tricentis, announced on July 30, 2026, on undisclosed terms (Calcalist estimated tens of millions of dollars). Tricentis is folding Tabnine's Enterprise Context Engine into its Agentic Quality Engineering Platform. Tabnine said existing customers would keep receiving support, but by mid-September 2026 tabnine.com, including its pricing page, redirected to Tricentis and Tabnine was no longer marketed as a standalone product.

Cognition, the maker of Devin, acquired its parent The Interaction Company of California in July 2026 in a deal reported in the low nine figures. Poke still operates as a standalone product, with Cognition models due behind some tasks from 2027.

It died healthy: Google hired founder Jacob Bank as VP of Product for Chrome along with several staff, but bought neither the product nor the brand. LOVO filed for Chapter 7 liquidation in the Southern District of New York on 27 May 2026, mid-way through the Lehrman voice-actor class action over unauthorised voice clones, which was stayed on the bankruptcy notice. Forethought built enterprise AI agents for customer support, with self-improving automation that resolved tickets across chat, email, and voice. The company raised around $115 million over its life as an independent vendor. Zendesk announced its intent to buy Forethought in March 2026 and completed the deal on March 26, 2026, its largest acquisition in roughly two decades.
