Overview

Lovable: Vibe Code Full-Stack Apps and Websites From a Single Prompt

Lovable is the no-code, prompt-first app builder that turns a sentence into a working full-stack web product — frontend, backend, database, and auth — without writing code yourself. Founders, product managers, designers, and small teams use Lovable to spin up landing pages, internal tools, MVPs, dashboards, marketplaces, and SaaS prototypes in minutes, then iterate by chatting with the editor instead of opening an IDE. Connect Supabase, Stripe, GitHub, and a custom domain, and you can ship a real, monetizable product the same afternoon you started it.

Key Features:

  • Prompt-to-app generation that produces React, Tailwind, and full backend code on the first turn
  • Live visual editor with chat-based edits, version history, and instant rollback
  • Built-in Supabase integration for auth, database, storage, and edge functions
  • One-click GitHub sync so every project is owned, exportable, and self-hostable
  • Stripe and payments wiring for paid products, subscriptions, and checkout flows
  • Custom domain publishing with SSL and global CDN out of the box
  • Team workspaces, role-based access, and shared credit pools for collaborative building
  • Templates, design systems, and starter kits for landing pages, SaaS, dashboards, and tools
  • Image and asset upload, brand customization, and design-token control inside the chat editor

Ideal Use Case:

Lovable is built for non-engineers who want to ship real software, and for engineers who want to skip the boilerplate. Indie founders prototype their next idea over a weekend, marketing teams build landing pages and lead-capture funnels without a dev queue, agencies deliver client MVPs in days, and product managers turn Figma sketches into working apps to put in front of users for feedback.

Why Use Lovable:

  • Ship a working full-stack product from a prompt without learning a framework
  • Own the code on GitHub instead of being locked into a closed platform
  • Replace a multi-week dev cycle with same-day iteration on a real, deployed app
  • Plug straight into Supabase, Stripe, and custom domains so the output is production-ready
  • Collaborate with non-technical teammates in the same chat-driven editor
  • Start free with monthly credits, then scale to Pro or Business as projects grow

FAQ

Is Lovable really no-code? You can build, ship, and edit a full app entirely through chat without ever writing code. The generated code is still real React and TypeScript, so engineers can drop into GitHub when they want.

Do I own the code? Yes. Every Lovable project syncs to your own GitHub repo, so you can self-host, fork, or move off the platform whenever you want.

Can I add a database, auth, and payments? Yes — Lovable has native Supabase integration for database, auth, and storage, and connects to Stripe for payments and subscriptions.

Is there a free plan? Yes. The free tier includes monthly credits, daily credits, and unlimited public projects, which is enough to ship a small MVP or landing page.

How is Lovable different from v0 or Bolt? Lovable focuses on full-stack production apps with backend, auth, and database wired in, and emphasizes code ownership through GitHub sync rather than purely UI generation.

FAQ

What can I build with Lovable? Lovable lets you create full-stack apps and websites by describing what you want in plain language, without writing any code yourself. The tool handles the entire development process from your prompt.

Who should use Lovable? Lovable is designed for anyone who wants to build web applications and sites quickly without coding skills, making it useful for entrepreneurs, designers, product managers, and developers looking to prototype or ship faster.

How much does Lovable cost? Lovable offers a freemium model with a free tier that includes monthly and daily credits, letting you start building at no cost. Visit the Lovable pricing page for current plans and details on paid tiers.

How does Lovable compare to similar tools? Unlike code-focused alternatives like GitHub Copilot and Cursor that require coding knowledge, or design-first tools like v0, Lovable specializes in generating complete full-stack applications from natural language prompts alone.

tl;dr:

Lovable turns a single prompt into a real full-stack app — React frontend, Supabase backend, auth, payments, and a live URL — and lets anyone iterate by chatting instead of coding. It is the fastest way for a non-engineer to ship a working product, and the fastest way for a developer to skip boilerplate and get straight to the interesting parts.

Prompt-to-app builder that got very big very fast: ~$500M ARR, 8M users, a Gemini-backed Google Cloud deal. Output is real full-stack code, but credit pricing is now complexity-weighted and the security record of user-built apps is mixed. Fine for MVPs; audit before launch.

What works

  • Genuinely functional full-stack output — React + Supabase + GitHub sync, deployed — not toy code or screenshots
  • Agent mode explores the codebase and self-debugs, so bigger changes land in fewer prompt cycles
  • Massive validated adoption: ~8M users and ~$500M ARR as of June 2026 — people are shipping with this

What doesn't

  • Complexity-weighted credits (0.5–2 per message, agent turns ~50% more) make costs hard to predict; a stubborn bug can burn a day's budget
  • Generated-app security is your problem: a Feb 2026 researcher report found 16 vulnerabilities in one Lovable-built app exposing 18K+ users' data

Lovable generates full-stack applications from natural language prompts — React frontend, Supabase backend, GitHub sync, hosting included. The scale story has changed dramatically since we last looked: the company crossed $400M in annual recurring revenue in February 2026 and reported roughly $500M by late June, with about 8 million users on the platform. It raised a $330M Series B at a $6.6B valuation in December 2025 and was reported by Forbes in June 2026 to be in talks at a $12B valuation. It also signed a multi-year Google Cloud deal in June to run on Gemini models and Google compute. None of that changes the core trade: you get what the model decides to build, not necessarily what you'd architect. The autonomous agent mode (independent codebase exploration, self-debugging, web search) makes bigger changes land in fewer turns, but each agent turn also decides how much it costs you.

That's the first real caveat. Since July 2025, pricing is complexity-weighted: a message costs roughly 0.5 to 2 credits depending on what it touches, and community reports put agent-mode turns at 50%+ more than chat. Free gets 5 daily credits capped at 30/month; Pro starts at $25/month for 100 credits; Business starts at $50/month. Budget by feature, not by message count — a stubborn bug can eat a day's credits. The second caveat is security. In February 2026 a researcher reported 16 vulnerabilities — six critical — in a single Lovable-hosted app that exposed data on more than 18,000 people. The platform itself carries SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001; the apps users generate are their own liability, and most Lovable users are not doing security review. For prototypes and internal tools, the speed is worth it. For anything holding user data, treat the generated code as a first draft that needs an engineer's pass before it ships.
