Cloudflare has assembled the full agent stack on its edge network: Workers AI to run models near the user with a daily free allowance, an AI gateway that adds caching, rate and spend limits, routing, guardrails and data-loss controls across more than twenty providers, an agents SDK for stateful agents with their own storage, scheduling and sandboxed code execution, and more than fifteen official remote MCP servers behind OAuth. Its MCP portals, launched in August 2025, put a zero-trust gateway in front of any MCP server, and they picked up the stateless July 2026 protocol revision within a month. The changelog moves weekly, which is both the appeal and the workload.
The free tier is unusually generous for infrastructure of this kind, and the pieces are designed to be used together, so a small team can ship an agent with observability and governance that would otherwise take a platform team.
The risk is the company's other job.
