BlueWillow
BlueWillow was a free Discord-based AI image generator that grew into one of the largest creative communities on the platform, second only to Midjourney, by offering text-to-image generation with no subscription at a time when its closest competitor charged for every tier. Users prompted a bot in a shared Discord channel and received four image variations to upscale or re-roll — the same interaction model as Midjourney, without the paywall.
LimeWire — the file-sharing brand relaunched as an AI content studio — acquired BlueWillow in September 2023, at which point the community numbered more than two million members. The stated plan was to keep the Discord presence running while folding BlueWillow's generation into LimeWire's own free and paid creator tiers. The acquisition did not include the team: BlueWillow's founders left to start a separate venture.
