LexisNexis Legal & Professional, part of RELX, announced the acquisition of privately held Lex Machina, the Stanford-born Legal Analytics platform for mining federal court dockets, on November 23, 2015; terms were undisclosed. Lex Machina is still sold as a LexisNexis product, and lexmachina.com now redirects to its product page on lexisnexis.com.

VocalIQ, founded in 2011 as a spinout of Cambridge University, built self-learning voice-AI software designed to hold natural, context-aware conversations rather than parse rigid commands. Apple acquired the small team in late 2015 and folded its technology into Siri. The standalone product never reached the market; VocalIQ disappeared into Apple as one of the building blocks of its voice assistant.
